Diana Calleja – Snug as a Cub

2024 Best of the Year, January Best in Color.

I’ve been to Africa a few times. On this particular tour, i was in Kenya.  We were told that there was a cub with its mom near a bush.

On the first two attempts, we did not see the cub on the third one, we did. He was the cutest little thing rolling around, jumping and so full of curiosity.  His mom had lots to do looking after him and keeping a firm paw on him. (not sure if it’s a boy or girl). We spent quite a while watching and photographing them.   Leopards are terrific parents.

It was such a delight!

I’ve had Canon all my life and I intend to stay with it. I use the Canon R5 Mirrorless and probably the RF 400mm 2.8. We always respect the animal and give it a lot of space.

For post processing I darkened around the cub and Mom a bit so that they would pop a bit more.  I removed a few leaves so less distractions (Honestly, they did all the work!)

And anyone who knows me knows that I hardly do any processing mostly because I don’t know how. That’s the truth.
