Meeting Notes of December 8, 2011

To all DPI-SIG members and other interested parties:

A sincere welcome to our three new members!

Nancy Springer, Kent Taylor, and Wendy Taylor.

Our slide show producer, Jeff Bilyeau, presented our monthly theme photos based on S I G N S O F T H E S E A S O Nto an audience of approximately 95 photographers! The lively holiday music put everyone in a festive mood and the seasonal images entertained us. Jeff reported that we had 20 contributors submit 113 photos. Your photos are shown at the meeting and will also appear on the web-site’s page of slideshows.

DPI-SIG Virtual Outing

Self Portrait

Trust me! This will be fun and challenging!

Rules: No rules. It’s simple.


A Self portrait is a portrait of your  self by your  self


You have complete control and can do whatever you want.

  • Experiment with light, natural or artificial
  • Use various poses
  • Use props
  • Be original
  • Be artsy
  • Use different Photoshop filters
  • Make a sketch
  • Make a cartoon
  • Use Pastels, water color, Black & White, Color, Creative Color


Whatever you do, do it by January 9, 2012 and email your images to , using the How to Prepare Your Photos for “Theme of the Month” submissions as described on the website (  I will put your portraits in a slide show for viewing at the meeting on January 12th.


Don’t forget in January we’re also having a non-shooting Outing at the Naples Daily News.  Put the date on your calendar, January 19th at 2pm.  A tour of the printing plant followed by a tour of the NDN Photo Department.  Details will follow.

So that I have an idea of how many to expect, please reply if you will be doing the self-portrait.

Please submit your theme photos by Tuesday, December 6, 2011, for inclusion in this month’s slideshow.  The theme for this month is: “S I G N S O F T H E S E A S O N”.   Members are eligible to submit 6 pictures or a 2 minute video to: Please follow the guidelines on our web site below to resize your photos.
Christine Cook will award ribbons for the FCCC 3rd Tri-Annual Print Competition, plus return the prints. Please be at the meeting to pick up your prints.
