Club Competition

To enter your images for the Club Contests

  • Three Easy Steps

  1. Title your digital photos (jpg images only up to 4 images)
    • Note: JPG is the only type of digital image that is acceptable (not BMP, GIF,TIFF, etc.)
    • Place a space between each word, all CAPITAL letters for title, and type in .jpg extension
    • Ex: NATURE TULIPS by John Doe.jpg
  2. Resize your photos (using your photo editor or similar software*)
    • Resize the image to 1024 pixels x 768 pixels
    • Horizontal side no larger than 1024 pixels and vertical side no larger than 768 pixels
    • No adjustment of DPI (dots per inch) resolution of photos necessary
    • NOTE: Each properly resized image will be approximately 1/2 MB (megabyte)
  3. E-mail you photos Send all in one e-mail To:dpi-compete@naples.net
  • Include in the body of the e-mail:
  • Name of club: DPI-SIG
  • Name of maker: your first and last name
  • Photo title (of each image)
  • Class / Division: A (Advanced) or B (Beginner) / Color or Mono
  • Indicate number of images entered

* Examples are: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Elements, Adobe Lightroom, Faststone Image Viewer, etc

The Club offers competitions to its members four times a year. The fourth competition consists of the images awarded honors during the first three competitions. For the year-end completion, all members who have won honors in the first three are invited to participate.

BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR PHOTOS, review the above procedures.

    DPI-SIG Club Competition Guidelines

  • Only members in good standing with DPI-SIG may compete
  • Five-year Rule: Images must be taken within five (5) years
  • All images must be the work of the maker.
  • Previous awarded Images may not be entered again.

    Two (2) competition classes:

  • Advanced amateurs or professionals (Class A)
  • Beginning amateurs (Class B)
  • Class “B” competitors can be advanced to Class “A” as their work improves.

    Two divisions for competition:

  • Color
  • Monochrome
  • Each class / division will be judged separately.
  • We accept 4 images irrespective of the number which are in color and monochrome.
  • There will be a single judge from outside of our club for each competition.
  • If there is no judge available or if the Club chooses not to select an outside judge, then three (3) members in good standing will be selected to judge a competition and will excuse themselves from judging their own work.

    Scoring-Images will be judged on:

  • Technical Quality
  • Impact
  • Artistic Merit

    Submitting your entry

  • Image Entry Labeling, Sizing, and Deadline
  • Each image file should be labeled as follows:
  • Class-Category-YourName-Title
  • Example: “B-Monochrome-JoeSmith-Egrets in Flight”
  • Each image should be sized 1024 X 768 pixels
  • All four images MUST be JPEG (.jpg) files
