 A real good place for good pictures!

Meet at Collier County Regional Library at 7:15 am. 

  • Carpooling
    • It’s a 67 mi trip (1.5 hours)
    • $10 fee per carload but free with a “Golden Eagle Pass”. 
    • Shark Valley parking fills-up
    • get there early for the ‘good light’.  
  • Gate opens at 8:30.  Sunrise is 7am on Feb. 19th. 
  • There is a tram (add’l charge),
  • Ranger-led hike at 9:45 and (maybe other times as well)
  • Bicycle rentals ($7.50/hr), Bikes are gone early; canoes and kayaks also for rent. 
  • Tripods are permitted. 
  • Good for viewing alligators, wading birds, and other freshwater wildlife. 
  • Tower 7 miles in (and that’s also 7 mi. out, so plan accordingly). 

There is a small restaurant run by Natives and also vending machines. 

If you want to enjoy one of these extra opportunities, make arrangements with your driver or riders.

to reduce the number of cars and save $$s on the entrance fee by putting a Golden Eagle holder in each car.  However, if you want to drive directly to the Park or will arrange your own carpool, that’s OK, but let me know what you’ll be doing.  If you have a bicycle and rack you would have to get off-and-on to take pictures but you can peddle the 7 miles back from the tower.
